Bitcoin Pizza Day 🍕₿
On May 22, 2010, programmer Laszlo Hanyecz made history by spending 10,000 BTC for two pizzas the first known real-world Bitcoin transaction.
At today’s prices, those pizzas would be worth hundreds of millions of dollars 👀
The person who accepted the BTC was Jeremy Sturdivant, known online as “jercos.”
Why it matters:
🍕 It proved Bitcoin could be used as real money
📈 It marked the beginning of Bitcoin’s journey from internet experiment to global financial asset
🌍 It showed that digital currency could have real-world value
Without that trade, Bitcoin may have remained just a niche idea discussed on forums.
